YOUTH OF GRACE

The Youth of Grace (YoG) is a ministry that embraces students where they are, exposes them to a relationship with Jesus Christ, encourages them towards maturity in their faith, and equips them to give their lives away for the sake of the Gospel.

We value the importance of relational ministry above all other programming.  Despite our entertainment-saturated culture, we're not here simply to entertain youth.  Interpersonal relationships are a valuable context for change in a person's life.  We desire to partner with parents in teaching the Scriptures and leading godly lives that ultimately show teens the greatness of God and the love he has for us in Jesus.

REALITY WEEKEND

NOVEMBER 6-8, 2020

Hey all you 9-12th graders!  Sign up now for an awesome weekend of growing in your faith, serving the community of Lawrence, and building Christ-centered friendships with other Yoggers!  We will be doing sessions at the church house and various outdoor locations as weather permits.  Instead of staying at host homes, students will be staying in their own homes for the weekend.

The cost is $65/person ($100 families) and covers meals and a t-shirt. Sign on our website by Oct 26!

SMALL GROUPS

Age-specific groups, divided by gender, meet weekly during the school year for prayer and Bible study. These groups are led by a staff of adult volunteers. This is the centerpiece of the youth ministry and we see these groups as an essential part of growing and maturing through the teen years. Students have the opportunity to connect with other students and grow in their knowledge of God and His Word.

SMALL GROUPS FALL 2020 SCHEDULE AND COVID PLAN

YOG NIGHTS

YoG Nights are filled with dinner, games, singing, and relevant teaching for everyone in the youth group. We eat and worship together, and then break into high school and middle school for age-specific Bible teaching.

Since there will be no Family Dinner served the students are encouraged to bring a sack dinner. We will eat together for the first part of the evening, then split by age group for the teaching time. In the event we need to move indoors, we will meet and eat in the gym spaced out, then High School will move to the couches in the narthex and Middle School will stay in the gym for the teaching time.

YOG NIGHT FALL 2020 SCHEDULE

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Every Sunday morning during the school year, youth are taught by volunteers and parents.  The focus is on Scripture and topics essential to growing in the Christian faith. Youth are divided into Middle School Boys, Middle School Girls, and High Schoolers.

RETREATS

Reality Weekend is our fall high school retreat.  During this weekend, students participate in worship, hear from a guest speaker, play games, serve in the community, and stay overnight in host homes across town.

Spring Retreat is for middle school students and is held at YouthFront in Edgerton, Kansas. From early morning Jazzercise to late-night capture the flag, this is a fun-filled weekend designed specifically for 6-8th grade students. Students are given many opportunities to experience worship, prayer, small groups, and Biblical instruction to further strengthen their faith.

MISSION TRIPS

We model our vision for YoG mission trips after Acts 1:8b, "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem [local], and in all Judea and Samaria [state and nationally], and to the ends of the earth [global]." We desire to teach the youth that missions begin in the backyard and from there extend across the globe. These trips exists to provide students with opportunities to share their faith in places and contexts that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to do so.

Each year is unique, but we typically take groups to serve at our own VBS, with New Life Church in St. Louis, with Camp Barnabas in Kansas, and with Hogar de Vida in Costa Rica.
