WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome to Grace.

We're glad you're interested in learning more about our church!  We think the best way to get to know us is to attend the worship service.  Each Sunday, we come together to fix our eyes on our Creator and Redeemer, and to consider our lives in light of who He is and what He's done.  We hope you'll join us and consider making us your church family.

While you're at the church house, stop by the Welcome Desk to say hi, ask questions, and meet a few people!

ORDER OF WORSHIP

We believe that a liturgy (a thoughtful sequence of worship) is a helpful tool to guide us through corporate worship. Drawing on Biblical approaches to God, here's how we plan our service:

  • First, we consider God in His holiness.
  • Secondly, we acknowledge our need and inadequacies in light of God's splendor.
  • Next, we receive God's forgiveness and mercy through Jesus Christ.
  • Then, we are blessed and sustained through the Word and Sacrament.
  • Lastly, we're sent out to bear witness to a watching world.

We use a combination of scripture readings, historic creeds, prayers, catechism questions, hymns, and other songs to help us encounter God and receive His covenant blessings through worship.

MUSIC

Singing together is one of the primary ways we worship God.  When the congregation gathers, we sing "hymns and spiritual songs" (Eph. 5:19) that remind us of God's glory and bear witness to His actions in history.  We believe that the cumulative effect of congregational singing over many years will be to strengthen us in faith, to increase our joy in worship, and to please God who delights in us.
